Whatman Schleicher & Schuell glass microfibre filters are manufactured from 100% borosilicate glass fibres with inorganic binders which offer high mechanical stability (for easier handling) and can be used at temperatures up to 500°C. Glass microfibre filters are resistant to aggressive chemicals except HF and alkalis of higher concentrations. They are notable for their fast filtration times (compared to other media) with outstanding separation results even for ultra-fine particles in liquids and gases.
Applications:
Glass fibre filters, Type GF 6 (round) Grade: Circle filter GF 6 Retention rate: 99.97% Filtration time to Herzberg: 200 s Filtration time to Gurley: 40 s Weight: 80 g/m2 Thickness: 350 µm
Glass fibre filters, Type GF 9 (round) Grade: Circle filter GF 9 Retention rate: 99.97 % Filtration time to Herzberg: 120 s Filtration time to Gurley: 20 s
Glass fibre filters, Type GF 10 (round) Grade: Circle filter GF 10 Retention rate: 99.97% Filtration time to Herzberg: 80 s Filtration time to Gurley: 12 s
Glass fibre membrane prefilters, Type GF 92 (round) Manufactured from 100% borosilicate glass microfibre. With inorganic binder. Suitable for use at up to 500°C. 350 µm thick. 70 g/m2. Resistant to aggressive chemicals except HF and alkalis of higher concentrations.
Applications: Grade: Circle filter GF 92 Filtration time to Herzberg: 120 s Filtration time to Gurley: 20 s Weight: 70 g/m2
Glass fibre micro filters Manufactured from 100% borosilicate glass. Binder-free. High flow rate, high load capacity and retention of fine particles down to the sub-micro range. Temperature-resistant up to 500°C. Suitable for use in calcining in gravimetric analyses.
Glass microfibre microfilter, grade GF/A (circle filter/sheet) For highly efficient general purpose laboratory filtration.
Glass fibre micro filters, Type GF/B (round/sheets) Thicker than GF/A with high wet strength and loading capacity. Suitable for the filtration of heavily loaded fine particulate suspensions and applications where a relatively large volume of liquid has to be absorbed.
Glass fibre micro filters, Type GF/C (round/sheets) The standard filter in many countries for the analysis of suspended solids in water. Widely used in biochemistry for cell harvesting, liquid scintillation counting and binding assays.
Glass fibre micro filters, Type GF/D (round/sheets) General purpose prefilter
Glass fibre micro filters, Type GF/F (round) For critical applications including clarification of protein solutions and the filtration of samples and solvents prior to HPLC.
