The Sub Blot Mini and WAVE high intensity transfer systems combine the cooling power of wet submarine blotting units with the speed of semi-dry transfer systems. Both systems use plate electrodes to generate a higher strength electric field and current density than conventional wire electrode systems. This enables the transfer of proteins with a broad molecular weight range, typically achieved within one hour in the Sub Blot Mini and within 1-2 hours with the WAVE Sub Blot system. The functions of the Sub Blot Mini and WAVE are as follows:

• Plate electrodes spaced 2 cm apart in the Sub Blot Mini allow rapid transfer of two stacked 8×8.5 cm mini-gels; and spaced 4 cm apart in the WAVE Sub Blot System to transfer one maxi-gel.
• The multi-transfer capability of the WAVE also allows transfer of 4 omniPAGE Mini and 2 omniPAGE Mini Wide gels stacked side by side.
• Two cooling options; a cooling pack supplied with the Sub Blot Mini for environmentally friendly and cost effective cooling; and active cooling in the Sub Blot WAVE through a removable cooling coil connected to a recooling system.
• Magnetic stir bars fit comfortably under the cooling coil in the WAVE tank to maximise buffer circulation and heat removal while preventing the formation of ion gradients; both tanks sit comfortably on most stir plates.
• Open, rigid cassettes maximise gel-membrane compression for efficient current transfer; colour-coded to prevent polarity reversal.
